a lovely block

Just uploaded to the website is this lovely cylinder block of 6 of the 54p value from the 2007 Scouts and Guides set. This is genuinely postally used and has lovely light CDS postmarks from my favourite post office at Pensford near Bristol.

I bought these back from a customer who takes the 9kg GB lots. I buy back a lot of this fine used material, but even so it is VERY hard to find. The PO seems determined to destroy its own collector base, but we can fight back by using the commemorative issues whenever possible. In the end they will realise the error of their ways and start stocking these issues at all POs and publicising them. But these stamps, issued at the PO's nadir, will always be extremely elusive, and I can't receommend them too highly.

future exhibition items

A lovely block just listed on the website. This was a fairly short lived Machin, correctly used in the year of issue and superbly postally used. It is this sort of item, obviously in very short supply, which will become a classic in the coming decades. There is quite a range of fine used Machins currently listed.

rare chance

Barefoot have produced just 500 of their UK (previously GB) Revenues catalogue. It is illustrated throughout in color and is a superb work of reference for these fascinating and increasingly popular issues. Available on the website but I don't expect to have them for long!

latest catalogue

Just in is the latest Gibbons GB Concise catalogue, which covers everything up to the 2010 Kings and Queens (3rd issue). Almost all SG catalogues are available on the S&D Collectables website, normally at 10% discount!

welcome

At last I've started the blog for stamps of GB, which will no doubt become one of the biggest and busiest of my single country blogs.

As with all our country blogs this is designed to build up as a one stop resource for all GB stamp collectors, with articles, features, pictures etc.
